The food was simply amazing, from each dish feeding my whole family, we couldn’t have asked for anything better. If I was to choose the dishes to get, it would have taken me hours. However, I was happy with the outcome they provided as we had veg and meat dishes that came together ideal for both. My personal favourite was the butter chicken as it was sweet and flavoured. The Biryanis were so good too, similar to biryani at home, but coming from a restaurant just tasted different. Each dish had its different flavours and tastes yet none of them went untouched.
I ordered my box a week in advance ensuring it arrived on a weekend. This was because I and my family have restaurant food every Saturday night. DesiEats box arrived in its chilled frozen package, when I opened it everything was so cold since they were ice packs inside and the food was frozen upon arrival. The covers are they arrive in were well and truly instagrammable with colourful artwork on the front package. When I opened it, the first thing on top was the Naans. Then the 6 boxes of different dishes with their names, so you don’t get confused as to what dish is what.
What’s in my box?
- Aloo Mattar Keema
- Lamb Biryani
- Chicken Biryani
- Chicken Drumsticks
- Butter Chicken
- Aloo Tikki
- Gulab Jamun
- Mango Chutney
- Chilli Sauce
- Peshawari Naan
- Aloo Paratha
You can have a look at their website, and you can choose from the various Starters, Mains, Desserts and Bread to order from their menu.
Two types of biryani came inside the box, these were Chicken & Lamb. This was a Royal Nawaab’s signature specially flavoured basmati rice with boneless chicken & lamb cooked with traditional herbs and spices and garnished with fried onions.
Butter Chicken £7.99
This was my personal favourite, not too spicy and just perfect. These are cubes of chicken cooked in a creamy buttery sauce consisting of herbs and spices, garlic, ginger and a touch of cream. Butter Chicken had a divine taste and I definitely would recommend this dish to anyone.
Aloo Tikki £6.99
These were for the non-meat eaters, although everyone in my household eats meat. It’s good to have a balance between the two. Aloo Tikki created in mashed potatoes, peas mixed with spices and fresh coriander. Then it was made into a patty and golden fried.
Chicken Drum Sticks £6.99
The drum sticks were nice, especially all of them being chicken legs. I’ve always enjoyed them the most when it comes to chicken curry. These tender chicken leg pieces are marinated in spices, yoghurt, oils and steam roasted to perfection.
Gulab Jamun £5.99
Dessert, my favourite meal of the day and it just looked so nice. They were delicious myself and my wife indulged in most of them as it’s both of our favourites dessert. Gulab Jamun was made with cottage cheese mixed with eggs, semolina, all-purpose flour, cardamom powder, a hint of baking powder and rose water, and then rolled into balls and deep-fried and soaked in sugar syrup and garnished with nuts.
Peshwari Naan £2.99
This naan was tasty, a Pakistani bread made with buttered eggs and cooked in a clay oven and stuffed with sugar, almonds, raisins, pistachio nuts and coconut powder.
Aloo Paratha £2.50
Unleavened oiled bread with rich flaky layers filled with spicy mashed potatoes.
As you can see below, this was everything that was provided and indulged by my family. An excellent meal prepared by DesiEats team and big thanks for sending these through. You can order online and have it delivered the next day or if you live nearby you can collect it directly from Nawaab themselves.
Something different for once, as were still lockdown dining in a restaurant is still a no show. Therefore, a great idea formed by DesiEats is bringing desi chilled frozen food from the restaurant straight to your homes anywhere in the UK. Thoughts on food were simply outstanding, everything was so nice from the mains, starters and dessert. I truly enjoyed every dish that was provided to us and I recommend all of them too. The service was good as it arrived as I expected it. The prices of each dish are slightly pricey but for what you get it’s worth it.
The experience of the food whilst everyone in my family enjoyed the same food was nice to see. As we all got to taste each dish and enjoy the flavours of the restaurant food. The presentation was impressive, as I managed to take great shots for my Instagram and blog. The containers that arrived were nice, plus the look of the food was super yummy. I couldn’t have asked for more as for that it gets a high rating from me.
