The well-known restaurant in Blackburn called Fig and Olive was a must especially when the kind owners of this place kindly invited my family to have a meal here.

Although we had a hectic schedule during the week on our way back to Blackburn from Edinburgh. We managed to squeeze in a late-night meal here, and on a typical Friday night, it was bound to be busy. Being our luck it certainly was when we arrived, since we had to wait 20 minutes or so as another family was sitting already.

Before myself and the family took a seat, we ordered our meal from their menu, so by the time we sat down our food was ready. From their menu, I had a quick long look to see what would be nice to have, so I first decided on my drink which was the Passion Fruit Mojito. Whilst everyone ordered their food, what my family ordered was the 'Peri Peri Chicken melts', 'Crispy Chicken Burger' for my little nephews, 'Chicken Steak' and 'Wings'.

After skimming through their menu, I finally decided to opt for their T Bone Steak, as I wanted to try something different as we were having Indian food throughout the week elsewhere. I found their prices pretty reasonable, but as it was quite late, we didn't feel as hungry to order more.

Mocktail

This was really refreshing and exactly what I needed after a warm day and a day full of travels. You can't go wrong with a Mojito, especially on a warm sunny day.

Table Settings

This was our seating as we were in our group of 7. I felt this little area was a nice spot to sit, with the restaurant logo beside us and a rainforest theme around us. As we got comfortable, we didn't wait for too long for our food to arrive, since we ordered beforehand, which was good.

T Bone Steak £14.95

T-Bone Steak

The T-Bone Steak was satisfying and filling, although it was a struggle to chop the meat from the bones. I certainly enjoyed it, but I have had better steaks before such as 'Sahara Grill' and as I'm aware of these guys being known for their burgers than anything else. This was what my brother ordered above the chicken steak. Serve with Curly fries, mash and seasonal veg. The melted cheese made it look yummy, but being a small steak, I felt it was more than enough to have for dinner.

Chicken Steak £12.95

Known for their burgers, this looked the part for me. A crispy chicken topped with spicy crumbled chicken breast, special sauce, cheese, salad and jalapenos. Yum! I was recommended by a few people to have a burger from here, but it's always next time.

Wings

The wings were what my mum ordered as she did feel hungry, so she had these wings and part of my Mojito. Simple wings filled with the salad to add to the presentation.

Peri-Peri Chicken Melts £4.25

Conclusion

Finally the 'Peri Peri chicken melt', was what my dad ordered. Overall, providing a reasonably good service, ensuring our table was cleared after the family before were gone. I felt the pricing was pretty reasonable as you tend to find a family of 7 as high as £80 to £100 occasionally. However, our total was around £63 but as a kind gesture, it was on the house.

I felt my family were really satisfied with their food order and the atmosphere seemed family-friendly, the place was busy being quite late at night, which is a good sign as we entered pretty much all the tables were full. Would I come here again? Of course, I would as I would have loved to try their other dishes on their menus. Also, each day there are special of the day, which seems like a nice surprise each time for those visiting.
