Experience
I was kindly invited to dine, and after having my eye on this place for a while, I finally had the perfect excuse to visit with my Mrs. I'm glad I did. The food was immaculate, and the interiors were every bit as impressive. From the moment you step inside, you're welcomed by striking marble floors and a flowing water feature. The venue is split into two distinct dining spaces. One more intimate and romantic, the other brighter and playful, ideal for afternoon tea with soft pink tones throughout.
The restaurant was lively, with an afternoon party in full swing in the pink room beside us. While plenty of dining tables were still available towards the back. The lighting there was quite dim. I preferred a brighter spot for photos, so we chose to sit near the entrance instead. Once settled, we flicked through the menu and made our choices. As we waited for our order to arrive. I took the opportunity to wander around, capturing a few videos and snaps of the interiors. The drinks arrived first. Followed shortly by both our starters and mains together. Service was impressively quick, with most dishes coming out in good time. As the food landed on the table. I grabbed a few more clips before moving on to dessert later.
By then, we'd spent just over an hour dining, and the party in the pink room had wrapped up. Just as we were about to leave. Another birthday celebration kicked off, complete with "It's My Birthday" blasting through the speakers. As a staff member member bought a cake for a group of friends, ending the visit on a lively note.
Menu
The menu is pretty huge, as you have plenty to choose from, as you can see here
What we ordered was:
- Enigma Platter (starter) £18
- Spicy Chicken Gyoza £9
- Sea Bream Chilli Sizzler £22
- Enigma Mixed Grill £32
- Chocolate Pudding £9
- Strawberry and Dragonfruit Cheesecake £9
- Traffic Lights £9
- Pretty Little Things £9

Mixed Grill
The mixed grill is ideal for sharing between two, with each item designed to be split. It includes grilled chicken on the bone, a lamb chop, a chicken steak, and grilled prawns. The lamb chops were the standout of the selection, easily the highlight of my main meals. Both the chicken steak and grilled chicken were well seasoned, though slightly on the dry side. Overall, it's a solid choice, albeit a little pricey for the portion size.

Starter Platter
If you don't know what to pick for starters, then I recommend going for the sharing platter, as you get a taste of 4 different items on one plate. As you have chicken karaage, tempura prawns, chicken satay, and vegetable dumplings. All of the choices here were tasty dipped into the sauces.

Sea Bream Chilli Sizzler
This was the other main dish we ordered alongside the mixed grill. Pan-fried sea bream served with pak choi, spring onions, mixed peppers, and a spicy sauce. Looked picturesque with the colours presented. Although you will find lots of bones inside, so bit difficult to eat. I wasn't a huge fan of it, but my Mrs was, hence the choice.

Desserts at Enigma Ilford
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly dessert. We ordered the dragonfruit and strawberry cheesecake alongside the chocolate pudding, which was the perfect way to end the meal.
While the dessert menu was fairly limited, the options were undeniably Instagram‑worthy. I went for the chocolate pudding with warm chocolate sauce, and it did not disappoint. Pouring the sauce over the cake and digging in was genuinely indulgent and a real highlight. The cheesecake was beautifully presented, but unfortunately, it tasted as though it had come straight from the freezer. It was noticeably too cold to bite into, which took away from the overall enjoyment.

Mocktails Drinks
Our drinks arrived first, and we opted for the more playful, funky‑looking options: the Traffic Lights and Pretty Little Thing.
The Pretty Little Thing mocktail featured botanical gin blended with fresh strawberry, raspberry, lime, and mint. It was finished with a bubble burst on arrival, releasing a swirl of smoke around the glass for a few seconds, adding a fun, theatrical touch. The Traffic Lights mocktail, on the other hand, was a vibrant mix of tropical flavours and colours, combining fresh strawberry, orange, kiwi, and lime for a bright, refreshing drink.
Traffic Lights was the more refreshing option and the one I'd recommend purely on taste. That said, if you're after a bit of theatrical experience and an Instagram‑worthy moment, Pretty Little Thing definitely brings the show.

Interiors
The interiors were genuinely impressive, from the striking marble floors as you enter with the water-flowing display to the statement lighting and the iconic pink section. No matter where you sit, there's an Instagram‑worthy backdrop waiting. I personally preferred the pink area, as it had a brighter, more uplifting atmosphere, but it was fully booked at the time due to a private party. As a result, we chose to sit nearer the entrance, where the lighting was better for photos. The seating layout is well thought out, offering a mix of plush sofa chairs, a long communal table positioned beside the drinks bar, and smaller, more intimate tables ideal for couples.

Conclusion
Overall, Enigma delivered a memorable dining experience, blending striking interiors with a lively atmosphere and mostly impressive food. While a few dishes fell short of perfection, portions leaned on the pricier side. The standout desserts, creative mocktails, and beautifully designed space made the visit worthwhile.
It's the kind of place that shines for special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, or those nights when you simply want to treat yourself to something a little extra. If you're after great visuals, a buzzing vibe, and a restaurant that feels more luxurious than its postcode suggests, Enigma is certainly worth pencilling into your plans.
