Exploring Barcelona: A 24-Hour Itinerary

24 hours in Barcelona

Earlier this weekend, I visited Barcelona for the first time. A working trip for the eShow Technology 2024 exhibition at Fira Hall Barcelona. This trip was part of my work, and I made a little holiday out of it there. Flights and hotels were all prebooked, so I did not need to plan those things. However, setting off to explore Barcelona in the evening with limited time was memorable.

Catalonia Barcelona Plaza

The hotel I stayed at was Catalonia Barcelona Plaza, close to the Fira hall where the eShow was hosted. The hotel was fantastic. The room I stayed at offered a large bed and a view of Placa D'Espanya outdoors. You will be able to view this via my Instagram Stories. My accommodation had breakfast included, and they created fresh omelettes in front of you and offered a variety of meal options.

Food in Barcelona

Surprisingly, I was pleased to find numerous halal options here. I did some research prior on where to eat in the neighbourhood where I was staying. However, there are very few halal establishments near the hotel where I was staying. I had to walk for up to 20-30 minutes to find the locations I wanted to go, such as Haveli and The Steak House.

Haveli was decent in my opinion, and Google reviews showed that it received positive comments. As a result, I decided to visit because I was craving Indian/Pakistani food. I chose the Chicken Samosa, which cost five euros. When you bite into a samosa, you are overloaded with chicken chunks. Two samosas came with two sauces: mint and tomato.

Mutton Karahi was pretty tasty; you can have it spicy, medium, or mild. I chose medium because I generally do not like spicy food. The meat was tender and chewy; some were boneless, while others contained bones. Overall, the masala was excellent. Overall, both dishes total came to a cost of 20.50 euros.

The Steakhouse

The next day, for supper, I walked about 2 miles to explore and experience the city. This Steakhouse was truly an impressive experience, as the rainforest interiors looked great. Plus, they put on a tiny performance in front of you with a candle and a grill, where they add salt and onion, causing a sizzling sound, and then you at your own pace use the heated stove to warm up and sizzle each piece of steak.

Overall, I enjoyed it; the fries were good, and the meat was tasty. Although I initially said mash potato, they must not have heard me and left it as is. The cost here came to be 22.50 euros for the whole steak and chips.

Casa Batlló

Casa Batlló is a structure located in Barcelona, Spain's downtown. This is one of Antoni Gaudí's most famous creations. If you have the opportunity, the artwork is a fantastic experience to witness because you will be able to see several interiors and facades, a rooftop perspective of Barcelona, and a multicoloured trail with an audio commentary that is photogenic. Children under the age of twelve are also welcome to visit for free.

You can have a look at what's included if you do purchase a ticket.

When I arrived, it was crowded from the outside, but I didn't have time to go inside. People were wandering and standing around the building, trying to photograph it.

La Pedrera Casa Milà

This place was simply a few minutes down the road from Casa Batllo. Another magnificent building with an abundance of things to pick from, although a tad pricey at up to 30 euros for each activity. Although not as bustling as the other, the shape of this structure appeared to be rather appealing. Furthermore, seeing the photographs on the site appears to be beneficial, as there is an audio tour to help you understand what each architecture is, etc.

I hope you enjoyed the mini blog of Barcelona, exploring new places is always fun and its what I love doing when visiting new places. As I get to see and experience things I never did before.
