Cafe Monochrome in Singapore is a one-of-a-kind establishment that blends minimalist design with a welcoming ambience. The cafe is recognised for its monochrome decor and clean, streamlined design, which attracts admirers of modern aesthetics. Also, one of the first 2D cafes in Singapore.
Experience at Cafe Monochrome
When I visited Singapore, I carried out some research on where to eat and came upon Cafe Monochrome. However, the charming 2D-looking cafe struck my eye in terms of interior design and aesthetics. I contacted their marketing team and requested a review, which they agreed to. As I came inside the cafe, I introduced myself since they were expecting me. They told me about the menu, which was limited in options because they did not supply halal dishes. I didn't mind because the interiors alone are worth a visit.
The interiors welcome you with dramatic black and white décor. The cafe's monochrome palette sets it apart as a visual marvel, making it an Instagram-worthy destination for individuals who enjoy documenting their experiences. As a result, the reason for the visit was to photograph it on my Instagram.
What we ordered at Cafe Monochrome:
- Uji Matcha Latte $7.5
- Biscoff $7.5
- Macaron $2.2
- Truffle Cream Pasta $20
- Agilio E Olio $18
- Ondeh Ondeh Cake $8
Drinks (Uji Matcha Latte + Biscoff)
Uji Matcha Latte is a Japanese drink with a delicate, creamy texture and a hint of bitterness. Personally, I enjoyed it because I really like the taste of matcha. However, the Biscoff coffee was not really good, but it was quite attractive and instagrammable, so that was the drink of choice.
Truffle Cream Pasta
The creamy pasta was both cheesy and filling. The truffle cream pasta seemed Instagrammable to me, with the creamy sauce engulfing the pasta and sprinkled with fine truffle shavings or a drizzle of truffle oil, which added to its attractiveness. The taste was good, but the portions were so large that we couldn't eat either of the items we ordered.
Spaghetti, truffle cream, shimeiji, swiss brown & white button mushrooms, parmesan, greens
Agilio E Olio
I was initially confused as to what this was, but after revisiting the menu, I realised it was similar to the other item we ordered due to the restricted alternatives available. This was not as good as Truffle Cream Pasta, but it was very similar with only a few differences in ingredients. I thought this was a little dry, but the presentation was beautiful. We were unable to complete the meal because the dish was large and we were not big eaters. If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the truffle cream pasta.
The ingredients for this recipe are provided below.
Spaghetti, olive oil, chillies, garlic, shimeiji, swiss brown & white button mushrooms, greens
Desserts at Cafe Monochrome (Macaron + Ondeh Ondeh Cake)
These Macron were delicious, we were offered Earl Grey, Lychee, Vanilla, and Oreo macaron. I couldn't choose a favourite because they were all so delicious. These are always picturesque. The Ondeh Ondeh cake was made with grated coconut, which has a smooth and creamy texture. It's a rice ball made with palm sugar and coconut. This was a classic Malay dessert.

Conclusion
In conclusion, Cafe Monochrome is not simply a cafe, it is an experience. Firstly, whether you're a coffee enthusiast, a foodie, or seeking a calm escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, this café has something for you. Its magnificent design, outstanding coffee, and delicious food have quickly grown popular among both locals and visitors. Because of its scenic surroundings and distinct flair, Instagrammers and business professionals frequent this establishment.
I thought the meal was reasonable, but there weren't many options. However, the truffle cream spaghetti and desserts were my favourite dishes. The pricing was a touch high, but in comparison to London prices, it was somewhat similar to the cafes we have here.
Although the service was excellent, we were asked about any allergies and the selections provided. They advised me what was good to have and were a pleasant and cheerful group. Presentation-wise, I think it was eye-catching because it matched the 2D style around the cafe. Finally, the experience was ideal because we were not disturbed, we were given a good seat, and I was able to snap numerous photos throughout the cafe. I really enjoyed my visit to Cafe Monochrome in Singapore.
So, the next time you are in Singapore, make sure to stop by Cafe Monochrome—you will not be disappointed!
