A Guide to Must-See Places in Singapore

Places to see in Singapore

Singapore, the vibrant city-state, is known for its blend of futuristic marvels, lush green spaces, and cultural diversity. This blog will showcase the must-see places in Singapore. Whether you’re visiting for a few days or planning a longer stay, this small island packs an impressive array of attractions. Here are the things to add to your travel itinerary during your visit to Singapore.

Must-See Places in Singapore: Garden By the Bays

One of Singapore’s most iconic attractions, Gardens by the Bay is a sprawling garden filled with towering Supertrees, futuristic biodomes, and beautifully landscaped gardens. The second night, I went to the wonderful light show, where the supertree groves miraculously light up for fifteen minutes every day between 7:45 and 8:45.

The lights were amazing to see. It's a very different feeling to see it in person after viewing it on social media. As you see hundreds of people lying down on the ground, watching the wonderful lights dance away. If you're here, be sure to visit the Cloud Forest and Floral Fantasy, both of which are picturesque and breathtaking.

Tip: Visit at sunset to catch the Supertree Grove lighting up the night sky.

Helix Bridge

The Helix Bridge in Singapore is an architectural marvel and one of the city's most notable sights. Crossing the bridge from The Shoppes. A mall which hosts luxury shops at Marina Bay Sands, these lights at the bridge are a special and picturesque moment to capture. From the bridge, you get a panoramic view of the city's iconic buildings like the ArtScience Museum, Singapore Flyer and Marina Bay Sands.

Tip: I suggest visiting or crossing the bridge at night so you can view the light show and the bridge's changing colours.

For about £9, you can take a boat ride around the Shoppes Mall, which is a beautiful location. Additionally, if you're passing by "The Shoppes" Mall, you may see the light and water show from the bridge.

As you walk over the bridge, there is a space where you can congregate to capture picturesque moments against the scenic backdrop of the museum. Here you can see the Future World, Studio Ghibli and other exhibitions. However, each exhibition has to be paid separately to enter.

Spectra: A Light & Water Show is a spectacular multimedia event held at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. This free 15-minute presentation uses fountains, laser lights, projections, and symphonic music to convey the tale of Singapore's journey, highlighting its cultural variety and forward-thinking ambition. It takes place across the river in front of the Event Plaza at Marina Bay Sands.

Little India

This is the place to be if you love Indian culture. This tiny neighbourhood is crammed with Indian stores, cuisine, clothing, and other items. Therefore, during my trip to Singapore, we stayed here since it was bustling and close to nearby attractions. Also, getting to other places was simple because the Metro was close by—just a five to ten-minute walk away.

For breakfast, you will find a hawker market called 'Tekka Centre'. You can get cheap and good Indian food, so we decided to go here each morning for breakfast before going out to explore. Highly recommend it!

Must-See Places in Singapore: Haji Lane

Haji Lane in Singapore is a vibrant, narrow street located in the Kampong Glam district, famous for its quirky boutiques, colourful street art, and indie vibe. It’s a popular destination for both locals and tourists. The well-known Sultan Mosque is located here. This is where you will find the Muslim culture, where people are welcome to eat at the eateries or visit the mosque.

Clarks Quay

Another must-see places in Singapore is Clarke Quay, a bustling riverbank neighbourhood. renowned for its exciting nightlife, food options, entertainment, and river cruises. We decided to take the river cruise so we could see the city from the front of the river. As we got closer to Marina Bay Sands, we were able to capture the skyline in a single frame, and the scenery was stunning.

We purchased the tickets online because it's less expensive than what you'll get on-site.

Must-See Places in Singapore: Fort Canning Park

Fort Canning Park is a perfect blend of history, nature, and culture, offering a serene escape in the city. Here you see lots of people gathering for picnics, and catching up with their friends and families. Nevertheless this very spot below. People tend to queue up for hours and hours just to take the perfect shot.

I queued up for at least 10 minutes and I just thought it was not worth the wait. Especially when you don't have much time in the country. Insta worthy yes, but only if there is nothing else on your list for a couple of hours.

Although, as you wander upstairs after this tunnel place. There is a spot within the park, you will be transported to Bali at a certain location in the park. You get the impression that you are in another country because of the surrounding plants and the Bali vibe that permeates the aisle.

In summary, Singapore has several must-see locations. There is never a dull moment for those visiting for the first time. As it's a small country, you can easily get around to these spots by metro or Grab/Uber. As I would say everything is within 15-20mins apart from each other.
