The Green Planet | Dubai Indoor Rainforest

The Green Planet Dubai

The Green Planet Dubai is an indoor tropical rainforest, located in the heart of the city. It is a biodome that houses over 3,000 plants and animals. The biodome is designed to mimic a rainforest environment. Along with a 35-meter-tall man-made tree that serves as the centrepiece of the attraction.

The four levels of the rainforest are open to visitors to The Green Planet. The fact that Green Planet Dubai is entirely sustainable is one of its standout qualities. The dome was constructed from recycled materials, and the plants and animals inside were chosen with consideration for their environmental impact. Also, the attraction has an innovative watering system that recycles water and reduces waste.

Entry fee to The Green Planet

Tickets can be ordered online. This can be done through the Green Planet website for 140 AED online or at the gate for 160 AED. As an alternative, you can shop online and compare pricing.

I bought mine from Thrillophilia. As it was significantly less expensive than the official website.

How to Get There?

In Dubai, in order to get to The Green Planet. Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall is the nearest Metro station. Walking from the station takes 10 minutes to reach the destination. Other alternatives are Careem/Uber or a direct drive to City Walk. Parking is free over here, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding space.

As it was the cheapest method of transportation, I boarded the Metro line and set out on foot from the station. Along the way, we passed the incredibly well-known Coca-Cola Arena and ate at the instagrammable cafe Saya Cafe within City Walk.

The structure itself is interesting, with its enormous cube foundation, rounded windows, and floor-to-ceiling glass cylinder displays. They created this building so that sunlight could enter through the perforations because the sunlight in Dubai tends to become heated. Especially during the summer when it exceeds 40 degrees.

Exploring The Green Planet

Here at Green Planet, you will go through four floors. The first thing you walk past is a fish tank shaped like a cylinder. As you walk past you go in a lift to the next floor. Here you will witness a large artificial tree with a rainforest theme. Birds will flash by as you walk along and when you look up that's where you can see the sunlight raying down.

Each floor has different species to look at. On the first level a canopy-level walkway, where visitors can observe the rainforest from above. The second level is the mid-story, where visitors can go up and close with animals like sloths, fruit bats, and various bird species.

The third level is the forest floor, where visitors can see animals like the giant millipede, tarantula, and various reptiles. The fourth level is the floodplains, where visitors can see animals like the piranha and giant river otters.

Together with the animal exhibits, The Green Planet also provides interactive activities including feeding the animals, speaking with specialists, and family-friendly educational programmes. The building also features a gift shop and café where guests can get beverages and mementoes.

Activities at The Green Planet

You can talk to an animal expert, and snap as many pictures as you like while you stroll around. If you're fortunate, you might be able to interact with or feed some animals. Similar to how we stroked the snake and parrot.

They had a midday rainstorm display. Here, the rain started to fall from the roof and water all the plants, and you could hear birds fluttering about and thunder rumbling. You get the impression that you are genuinely passing through a forest covered in rainfall.

You can soak in the rainfall whilst you're under the artificial tree.

Conclusion

Overall, guests of all ages can have a distinctive and instructive experience at The Green Planet in Dubai. It's a wonderful approach to discovering the value of preservation. Sustainable living while also appreciating the beauty of tropical rainforests. Despite the fact that I was only on the green planet for an hour or so. I had a great time seeing all the various animals. Getting pictures of some of these magnificent species was a delight.

If you have a spare couple of hours or prefer to see something different in Dubai. Then I recommend heading over to The Green Planet at City Walk. Otherwise, it's not an attraction you should put on your to-do if you are short of time.
