Abu Dhabi – Things to see

Abu Dhabi, a dream come true…

Visiting Abu Dhabi in UAE was truly magical when I witnessed some of the most magnificent architectural wonders. In this blog post, I’ll be showing you exactly what I did during my ‘one-day visit here and what you could do too.

You can check out my vlog from ABU DHABI

Sheikh Zayed Mosque

Since I stayed in Dubai (Bur Dubai to be specific), all I had to do was take a taxi outside my hotel to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, which was my first stop. Exploring the wonders of this stunningly designed mosque. I had no words to describe it as it was simply breathtaking. I managed to walk around the mosque twice to capture the moment. It took me a while before it hit me that I was here at this grand mosque.

When you do arrive at the grand mosque. You will have to go through a long queue of security, just like you would at airports. It took me roughly 20 minutes just to queue up and have all my belongings checked before entering.

Thereon, you have to walk quite a long distance just to reach outside the mosque. In the end, it’s all worth the hassle as you capture and witness one of the largest mosques in the world. Women who do not have any headscarves or not wearing abayas are provided with one of the security guards, as you’re not permitted to enter the building without one.

Interiors

Plenty of photo opportunities inside and outside the mosque, taking back lots of memories at home. Make sure when visiting you respect all boundaries, as this is a mosque of worship after all. The interior and design are beyond stunning, and words can’t be described how beautiful it looks.

After the grand mosque tour, I met up with a good friend who lives in this city. As she drove me around and showed me all the main attractions for the whole day, where my next stop was the spectacular ‘Emirates Palace’. The place was humongous, the Emirates Palace itself is known to be one of the 7-star hotels in the world, and has become a landmark in Abu Dhabi.

Emirates Palace

This palace was truly memorable as I managed to grab tons of images of the beautiful interiors and exterior surroundings. As you walk out of the palace you have the colourful Etihad Tower building views. From the entrance pathway, you have these gorgeous fountains along with the palm trees on either side, which look amazing for photos. The palace is known to be luxurious for a reason, as everything about it is stunning. I simply just walked around and was stunned by the interiors, toilets and surroundings. It’s a must-visit, if you ever in this city, as you will not regret it.

As I walked out of the palace, I was fortunate to capture the preparation of the air show on top of Emirates Palace. Everyone outside got their phones out and started recording the aircraft doing their stunts.

Lunch

After my two tours exploring the two main attractions, it was time for lunch at Wafi Gourmet in Nation Galleria mall. I dined at a luxury restaurant with a view from the balcony. From the balcony, I caught some glimpses of the air show across the road too. At this restaurant, I ordered Chicken Pasta and a mocktail, which was simple and yummy to eat. Although it took me a while to decide what to order, I couldn’t decide what was good to eat.

Sightseeing

Back to exploring the last few wonders of Abu Dhabi. Next up on the list was to see the Abu Dhabi Formula F1 track, where I caught glimpse of the stunningly designed track. Thereon I visited the gorgeous building of ‘Louvre Museum’, I’ve written a separate post for this which you can read here. Before ending my day in Abu Dhabi at the Yas Mall, which was a quick stop to pick up some dates (Khajoor) for work colleagues and top up my phone. Below is also part of the air show near the beach (which I cannot recall but behind the Etihad Towers)
