Travel Guide to Ahmedabad, India

Earlier this year, I went to visit India in the main city of Gujarat for a short period. I explored Ahmedabad for 2-3 days, where I saw plenty of malls and a few beautiful surroundings. My highlight being here was witnessing the 'Jama Masjid' and the Kanakaria Lake as I caught some beautiful shots from these two places.

As I arrived on the first day, I had a schedule written down on where to visit before I arrived. Therefore, I started by going to a mall nearby to where I stayed from my hotel, just for a look around but noticed most of the shops were closed due to early hours. As I walked out I saw a Pani Puri stand, where I ate a handful of yummy Pani Puri. Before heading off in a rickshaw to Kankaria Lake to see the stunning lights and lake.

If you're looking for a sanitised and disinfected car hire, you can rent a car in Ahmedabad for a day via reliable car rental company Shifa Travels. They will provide great service to accommodate you around the city.

Kankaria Lake

As I entered, I got to explore the surroundings and activities they had to offer here at Kankaria Lake. I decided to go on a 4D roller coaster ride, which was quite an enjoyable little ride as water squirted at us and pushed us around from our seats. The most beautiful part was when I saw these lights surrounding the whole lake and the boat sailing during sunset time. They were truly beautiful to watch.

Fountain Dance

A little while later in the evening, I bought tickets to see the popular Bollywood fountain dance show near the lake. I found these lights to be pretty cool with the change of colours on display. These lights and the choice of songs went hand in hand and were popular with the crowd. They were some of the old classic hits and some recent ones as well. You can catch a glimpse of the show on my Ahmedabad Vlog on YouTube. Not as great as the Dubai Fountain show but it was nice to see them over in India too.

Finally, I ended the day with some pizza at La Pino's which was nice, as you can see below with a mixture of non-veg and veg toppings.

Day 2

The following day in Ahmedabad, I decided to visit the Science Museum called Gujarat Science City, where I saw an IMAX 3D movie and explored the scenery around the museum. This science city held many things, like the energy parks, a hall of science, Planet Earth, an amphitheatre and a Life Science Park.

There were some cool spots here to explore, but as I wanted to enjoy the moment instead of filming everything I didn't catch many things on camera. One thing that did look cool here was the Earth-Dome. There were some closed places, like Dancing Musical Fountain. However, as I caught this the day before I felt as if there was no point waiting around for it.

After that, I visited the Alpha One Mall, which is one of the best malls in the city. It seemed like I was back in London again as to how clean it was and how some of the stores were from the UK as well. There was a games room, lots of restaurants including McDonald's, Subway etc and tons of other shops.

Jama Masjid

The standout part of my tour of this city was this historical Jama Masjid. If you are truly into photography or love taking photos, this will be a delight to witness this amazing mosque. Masjid is one of the must-visit sites for tourists here in Ahmadabad. You will be able to admire the stunning architecture built around here centuries ago. All religions and races are welcome to appreciate the building, as you tend to see many tourists entering to witness this holy mosque.

Jama Masjid can be visited at any time of the year. However, due to the heat, people reckon it's better to visit from October till March. As when it's summertime in India, you can barely go out or last that long outdoors due to the heatwave over there.

Before I entered this masjid, I went for a quick lunch meal around the corner. I ordered a drink which was quite different and looked nice but personally did not taste good.

Finally, I ended my little trip here with dinner at this luxury restaurant called Pleasure Trove. I was impressed with the food and settings here. As I went in a group of 4 to this place, we sat by the window, we decided to have a look at the menu and see what we could order from the choice of food. If you want an idea for yourself you can have a look at where I've linked the menu here showing you a range of items they have listed.

Food Experience

As we were ready to order, we ordered our drinks first as I chose a mocktail called 'Blue Lagoon'. This was the best decision as it looked mouth-watering and tasted nice too. As others chose smoothies and filtered water, whilst waiting for our starter menu to arrive, we ordered our mains as well to our table, which made us super hungry looking at it.

The thing which I found cool was the fact that they had a chef bring our food to the table. As I had my camera with me, I made him and the others wait as I took photos of the mixed grill we ordered. The life of a blogger, yes? To be honest, that mixed grill did it for us, as we were well and truly stuffed from the starters and main dishes.

After I was done with my photos, the chef served our food on all our plates, providing that extra special experience from the chef himself. I was satisfied with the experience plus the food was so good. I did not expect to find a place like this in Gujarat, but I've underestimated them. If any of us are travelling to Ahmedabad anytime soon. I would recommend dining here as there are plenty of dishes to choose from and enjoy the experience with your family/friends etc.
