Athr Café
Athr Café is tucked away in the centre of Souq Waqif and skilfully combines Qatari tradition with a revitalising modern twist. With its traditional architectural elements and soothing water features. The setting feels cosy and welcoming, offering a tranquil haven amid a busy marketplace. Craving a brunch spot that feels a little under-the-radar? You'll find this charming café nestled quietly between perfume boutiques.
The menu offers a tempting mix of dishes, from eggs and tomatoes to traditional balaleet (sweet saffron noodles with an omelette), along with hearty options like chicken pesto sandwiches. And try not to skip dessert, as you can get creative treats such as Arabic coffee tiramisu, carrot cake, and eclairs, which are standout favourites.
Athr Café Menu
My wife and I both went for the same order. When it comes to breakfast like this, we're always on the same page.
- Athr Croissant Benedicts x 2 (40QR)
- Signature Matcha Latte x 2 (28QR)
The Athr Set Menu breakfast seemed popular, as quite a few others I saw around me were having that. However, some of the options inside weren't what I wanted.

Athr Croissant Benedict
A freshly baked butter croissant filled with Qatari eggs and tomatoes, topped with cream cheese and a sprinkle of fresh parsley, made for a truly delightful breakfast. The croissant looked picture-perfect, with the creamy cheese and eggs peeking out, and it tasted just as good as it looked. The portion size was perfectly satisfying but not overwhelming. At around £8, it felt reasonably priced for the quality and presentation.

Signature Matcha Latte
Athr Café Signature Matcha Latte is a refined, creamy drink made from their house-blend matcha, whisked into steamed milk for a velvety, comforting texture. It's perfect whether you're looking for a gentle morning pick-me-up or a relaxing afternoon treat. We opted for it hot, since it was the first thing we had that morning, just the warm, soothing start we needed.

Conclusion
Overall, Athr Café felt like a true hidden gem in Doha. With its chic décor, warm hospitality, and cultural charm, it perfectly captures the essence of contemporary Qatari life. Whether you're enjoying a creative breakfast, indulging in a dessert, or savouring a signature drink like the Matcha Latte, the café invites you to pause, relax, and soak in the unique ambience of Souq Waqif. It's a spot worth revisiting and a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Doha.
As mentioned, the food we had was great, and the service was smooth. The order took around 10 minutes or so to arrive. Some might find the prices a bit high, but considering the quality and the café experience, it felt reasonable, especially compared to similar spots in London. Although yes, it's not a cheap place to eat, that's for sure. My experience was great, I got to take great videos and photos of the place and enjoy a nice meal. Finally, the presentation was especially impressive, with both dishes looking absolutely mouthwatering.
I definitely recommend Athr Café if you're in the Souq Waqif area and looking for a unique dining experience. The interiors are stunning, beautifully showcasing Qatari culture and lighting to create a warm, inviting atmosphere
