What We Ordered?

  • Mixed Grill £24.95
  • Chicken Tawa £14.95
  • Mango Lassi Jug £8
  • Prawn Puri £6.95

Prawn Puri

A thick bhuna curry served on or in a deep-fried chapati.

One of the starters we tried was the Prawn Puri, which my wife ordered. Personally, I'm not a big fan of prawns, so it wasn't really to my taste. I did have a bite, and while the prawn itself didn't win me over, I did enjoy the spiced masala filling paired with the soft chapati wrap. My wife, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed it and happily finished the dish herself.

For drinks, we opted for the Mango Lassi, which turned out to be the most reasonably priced option to share. Mocktails are coming in at around £7 each. A bit steep in my opinion. The lassi felt like a better value. It was refreshing and creamy and the perfect way to cool down alongside the rich, spiced dishes.

Mixed Grill

Kebabish Original's signature dish, comprising chicken tikka, lamb tikka, sheekh kebabs, lamb chops and succulent chicken wings.

The mixed grill was definitely the star of the meal. Every piece was tender, juicy, and packed with flavour. The kind of dish you can't help but keep going back to. I'd highly recommend ordering this, as it gives you a bit of everything: lamb chops, chicken tikka, and kebabs all served together. It's not only generous in portion but also perfect for sharing with a friend or loved one.

Chicken Tawa

Sliced chicken pieces came cooked with peppers, chopped onions, and garlic. Since we had already gone for the mixed grill, and the prawn dish didn't quite hit the mark, I decided to try one more item, as I was still a bit hungry. This dish wasn't bad at all, as the boneless chicken and the sauce worked well together, making it a satisfying choice. That said, the large chunks of vegetables felt like they took over the curry. A bit more gravy would have balanced it out and made the dish more enjoyable.

Conclusion

This isn't your average takeaway spot. The interiors at Kebabish Original feel unexpectedly upscale, with a boujee vibe that makes the whole place look seriously Instagram-worthy. I was impressed with how picture-perfect everything appeared inside. The food didn't disappoint either. The mixed grill stood out, and the menu offers plenty of variety to suit different tastes. That said, the prawn puri wasn't really to my liking, and while the chicken tawa was decent, it didn't wow me.

On the plus side, presentation here is on point. The dishes arrived looking mouthwatering and definitely camera-ready. Service was pleasant, too, as we were greeted warmly and looked after well. Even though this wasn't a paid review, the staff treated us with genuine hospitality. Once we ordered, the food came out surprisingly quickly, which was another bonus.

While the prices are on the higher side, with most dishes costing over £10. It did feel like you were paying for the overall experience as much as the food. The service really helped elevate the evening, the staff took time to explain the dishes, were quick to check in when needed, and made us feel well looked after.

Overall, it turned out to be a really enjoyable dinner. We were lucky to arrive just before the evening rush, which meant the restaurant wasn't too crowded, making the atmosphere even more relaxed and pleasant.
